Youth Participation Service

Empowering Children

We believe in empowering young people to take charge of their own futures.

Our Youth Participation Service is designed to provide children and young people in care with the tools, skills, and experiences they need to build confidence, independence, and resilience.

By encouraging active participation, we aim to give every young person a voice and a sense of belonging.

These include children being able to take part in rock climbing, kayaking and horse riding. 1-1 Mentoring

Every young person is unique, which is why our 1-1 mentoring sessions are personalised to meet their individual needs.

Our dedicated Youth Participation Team provide a safe, supportive space for young people to share their thoughts, explore their ambitions, and work through challenges. Together, we help them set goals and take meaningful steps toward their future.

By working closely with foster families, we provide the support and resources needed to help children in care explore their interests, achieve their goals, and truly thrive.

Life Skills for Independence

Growing up comes with its challenges, but we’re here to make the transition to independence smoother. Through interactive workshops, we teach essential life skills such as:

  • Cooking Classes: Learning to shop and prepare nutritious meals on a budget.

  • CV and Job Application Workshops: Helping young people stand out to employers.

  • Budgeting Basics: Managing finances confidently for everyday life.

These practical skills are designed to empower young people as they prepare for adulthood and independence.

At Rainbow, our mission is to ensure that children and young people are truly listened to and heard.

Our Youth Council offer a safe and trusting environment where young people can come together and discuss what matters most to them. The goal is to understand the needs anddesires of our young people and find ways to support them effectively during their journey with us and beyond.

Our Youth Councils take place in person, providing young people with the opportunity to speak freely, be heard, and enjoy connecting with other children who are part of Rainbow.

We understand the importance of family and community connections. Our family events bring young people and their foster families together for unforgettable experiences.

We have done go-karting, ice skating, adventure trails, trampoline parks, laser tag and so much more!

These events are opportunities to strengthen relationships, create lasting memories, and simply have fun as a group.

For Birth Children

At Rainbow, we recognise the vital role that the family unit plays in supporting the young people in our care. Our Children Who Foster support groups provide a dedicated space for the children of foster carers to openly share their experiences of opening their home.

The aim of these groups is to gain insight into their perspectives and to understand how we can better support their feelings and meet their needs.

Our Children Who Foster support groups are held in person, offering children within the foster family unit a chance to come together and share their experiences.
